Movement. I took this shot in manual mode, I wanted to try something I hadn't done before, I'm happy with this result but i'm keen to improve on it, i'm thinking an off camera flash kit will help remove the flash glare in the glass and some of the shadow, also want to try and get the fluid swirling around the bowl of the glass. If anyone has any tips of ideas they will be greatly appreciated.

Say it with words. I took this shot in manual mode. I chose this shot to go along with the days idea of with words from the cy365 website. I decided to do my bit to raise awareness of national braille week.
National Braille Week will be celebrated from 4-11 January 2013 - more than 200 years after the birth of Louis Braille. And each year 4 January marks World Braille Day commemorating the birth of Louis Braille on 4 January 1809.

So who uses braille? Millions of blind, deafblind and visually impaired people worldwide. In a world where communication is everything, living without it would be impossible.

Braille allows people to read books, exam papers and other important documents that need to be understood to get through life and the working world. It also lets people use computers in a society where technology is used nearly everywhere we go. Even some mobile phones are fitted with braille coding!

Although helping people with braille has been a huge success, there is still lots more to be done. Braille on mobile phones is miles away from developing countries who just can't afford enough braille books. Some facilities like bank machines andbutton panels on elevators still don't have braille. These arebasic tasks that should be easy to come by when you're gettingthrough the day.

So when the important day comes around, visually impaired people, along with their family and friends, will be taking part in events all around the globe. In the past people have celebrated by taking part in essay competitions or braillereadings.

It really is happening everywhere. Postage stamps with Louis Braille's picture have been published in many places and an asteroid called Braille orbits our planet in space!

If you're interested in finding out more about braille, visit the National Braille Week website.

Colourful Food. Macro sugar crystals shot in manual mode. I chose this for a couple of reasons, first it went along with the other bright colours from my 365 and brightened up another dull day. Second I found create your 365 website while looking for inspiration and their challenge for today was colourful food.

Project 365 day 4

Camera Settings:
Exposure 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture f/6.4
Focal Length 13.3 mm

Spiky Rainbow. I shot this image in manual mode. I chose this because it was bright and vibrant unlike the weather at the moment.

Camera Settings:
Exposure 0.083 sec (1/12)
Aperture f/4.5
Focal Length 20.4 mm
ISO Speed 200

DOF Pencil. I shot this simple image in aperture priority mode with a setting of f/4.5 to create a fairly shallow depth of field, focusing on the point of the pencil and blurring the top. I increased the ISO slightly to allow a faster shutter speed as I was shooting handheld.

Project 365 day 2

Camera Settings:
  Exposure0.033 sec (1/30)
Aperture f/5.0
Focal Length 12.7 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Rainbow in a bowl. I shot this image in shutter priority mode as I needed as quick a shutter as light would allow as I had to shoot freehand. the light was provided by a macro ring light stood to the side aimed under the glass to avoid reflections. I used rainx to aid in the water droplet formation.

Project 365 day 1

 Camera Settings:
Exposure 0.018 sec (1/56)
Aperture f/4.0
Focal Length 13.3 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias -1 EV

A trusty pine cone shot for the first day of my first 365 project. I shot this in aperture priority mode set to f/4 for a shallow depth of field on the hessian bag.
